This 6L6G by Sylvania also carries the VT-115A American government procurement code. It is a larger more powerful audio beam tetrode than the 6V6 receiver type. This was used for audio amplifiers and modulators for small Amplitude Modulated transmitters.
The data-sheet gives details of operation in various modes including triode connection and push-pull.
The classic envelope has a maximum diameter of 51 mm and excluding the IO base pins the valve is 118 mm long.
References: Data-sheet, 1040 & 1043. Type 6L6G was first introduced in 1936. See also 1936 adverts.
