The CV1166 is a directly heated triode that was used under their own designations by several of the UK services. It was called:- NR42, AR5, VR22, POVT140 as well as the prototype the commercial LP2.
The bright anode and above the first top mica is a bridge carrying the two helical filament tensioning springs.

The balloon envelope is 41 mm in diameter and, excluding the B4 base pins, is 82 mm tall.
