This exhibit is another of the popular 5U4G rectifiers. This one was made by Mullard and is marked 5U4G and not a Mullard own name. Clearly a recognition of the universal acclaim that the 5U4G received.
The 5U4G rectifier delivers 100 Watts of DC power, a reasonable size valve. It would be used for all types of medium power equipment.
We have no exact details of design age, but these devices were used in the 1940s and 1950s. They were not specified for new equipment by the 1960s.
The sample shown here has a shaped base and looks quite dated.
The valve has a maximum diameter of 48 mm and length excluding the IO base pins, is 118 mm.
