Adverts represent primary sources of information and give date and use information as this Mullard advert from 1954 shows.
In mid and late 2009 Andrew Sherriff sent some Wireless World Adverts from 1939, 1948 and 1950, and also Practical and Amateur Wireless adverts, many thanks. To these I have added more Wireless World adverts as Wireless World was the primary UK journal for the industry. Additionally several hobby magazines have been useful sources of adverts. An example of the Popular Wireless magazine cover can be seen by following the link.
Valve boxes have been useful ways to support a brand over time, here we present examples of that art. The packaging gives an insight into brand image, fashion, date and whether for industrial, military or consumer markets. The BTH B3 box is a good example.
Over time potted histories of the makers and their brand names will be added. Mullard is an example.
For large industrial valves wooden crates would be used for packing.
