The D42 is a single signal diode designed as a second detector or as an AGC rectifier in superhet receivers.

The Marconi brand label on this M-OV product.

The dome carries the Type designation. The cathode can be seen as a round tube.

The classic envelope is 29 mm in diameter, and excluding the B4 base pins is 79 mm tall.
