The EZ40 full wave rectifier offers a respectable output current of 90 mA, sufficient for most domestic apparatus.
The anodes are stacked vertically over the common central indirectly heated cathode. Each anode is formed into a cross for better heat dissipation.
The maximum reservoir capacitor, a measure of the peak current rating, was 50 µF. The minimum effective series resistance is 300 Ohms.
The anodes are mounted at right angles to one another. The top anode is here in full face view.
Side view.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B8A base pins, is 70 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type EZ40 was first introduced in 1954. See also 1954 adverts.
