This exhibit is a Ferranti D4 triode from the 1930's and was designed for use as a detector or audio voltage amplifier. The valve is indirectly heated and designed for parallel connection and uses the UK 1930's standard of a 4.0 Volt 1 Amp heater.
The balloon envelope is 44 mm in diameter and, excluding the B5 base pins, is 100 mm tall.
