The L2 is a low power audio amplifier triode. The filament is probably oxide coated to achieve such a low heating power. Our other L2 exhibits have plain glass balloon envelopes, this has a later shouldered envelope and a metallic paint screening. The original valves date to around 1931, this is probably mid to late 1930s.The reverse is plain zinc paint. The classic envelope is 38 mm in diameter and, excluding the B4 base pins, is 91 mm tall.References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type L2 was first introduced in 1931. See also 1931 adverts. |
