The CV344 is a CV63 selected for high altitude working. The CV344/CV63 is distinctive because of the twin top caps. One cap is for the anode and the other is for the control grid. The prototype for the CV63 was the M-OV experimental Type E1323.
It functions as a power oscillator and the ratings give peak values. It is specified to oscillate at 250 MHz - a very high figure for the time. Operation was in pulse mode.
The reverse is marked CV63.
The the anode has extended side wings for extra cooling area. The control grid has been wound on copper supports.
At the top the grid lead is shielded from the anode lead by the box.
The classic envelope is 38 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 97 mm tall.
