The CV5962 is an indirectly heated disc seal triode, without internal feedback, primarily intended for use as a common grid, earthed anode, concentric line oscillator. It has a 10 Watt anode dissipation and can also be used as a power amplifier. Commercially the valve is a TD03-10D.
The anode on the left, grid in the centre and through the grid can be seen the flat topped cathode.
The control grid is single sided and wound on a frame. Frame grids are wound at about 50% of the breaking strain of the wire to define the flat pass across the frame. After forming, one side of the wires would be sheared off.
The planar envelope is 15 mm in diameter, and is 61 mm overall.
