The 12AB5 is an audio output beam tetrode designed for use in car radios where the power source is the 12 Volt vehicle battery.
The output is given as 4.5 Watts at 8% THD.
The 12AB5 is yet another design that was influenced by the 6V6 as it is basically the 6BW6 in concept.
Few internal details are visible. Grids one and two both have double pin connections to help cool the wires.
The control grid has a top radiator above the top mica,
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9A base pins, is 60 mm tall.
Reference: Data-sheet. Type 12AB5 was first introduced in 1955. See also 1955 adverts.
