The EAM86 was designed as a level indicator for use in tape recorders. This is a small tuning indicator with a wide band of a screen for the display. The indication wraps round the circumference rather than along the length as is used in the EM84 and EM85.
The amplifier triode is on the left. In the centre behind the wires is the diode anode. The screen is on the right
The screen wrapping around the glass.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B9A base pins, is 40 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 3002. Type EAM86 was first introduced in 1960. See also 1960 adverts.
