The A580 was a mystery until Adam Sealey came across a POVT167 that was also marked as an M-OV a580.
This exhibit clearly has the type designation within an M-OV etched lozenge on the envelope.
Repeater valves would be used at baseband but the GPO would also use RF valves. Now we need to find the equipment it was used in.
The typical PX4 style bright anode.
The four filament hairpins held by tension springs.
The pinch and lower anode.
The classic envelope is 60 mm in diameter, and excluding the B4 base pins is 122 mm tall.
