The S11E12 is a special quality version of the 12E1. It is rated as an output valve but it was designed for use as a series or shunt pass device in voltage regulators for instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and radar displays.
This exhibit has STC as bold caps whereas S11E12 has the STC logo on the glass.
Looking through the holes in the end wall of the anode the aligned inner grids can be seen. The wires are formed so as to pass flat across the cathode. The beam plates can be seen as the bright metal within the anode box.
The wide glass tube envelope is 39 mm in diameter and, excluding the base pins, is 81 mm tall.
