The VMP4G is a screened variable Μ RF amplifier pentode for use in broadcast superhet receivers.
The VMP4 and VMP4K were introduced in 1933/4. This improved version the VMP4G was introduced in 1935 as a glass enveloped version when the Catkin valves were phased out.
The Osram brand printed on the metal screening paint. The connection to the cathode pin can be seen in the circle above the base.
The classic envelope is 45 mm in diameter, and excluding the B7 base pins is 119 mm tall.
