The LS9B follows in a long line of loudspeaker (LS) valves from M-OV. It was the prototype for the Post Office Type 80A and CV1658.
The stick-on label brands the valve as a Marconi procuct. This would normally imply that it was supplied for the professional market.
Seen from the pinch end the notched grid wire supports are clearly visible as is the mica supports and general construction.
The glass rod holds the two filament tensioning springs. In all the filament has four strands within the anode in a W shape.
The balloon envelope is 50 mm in diameter, and excluding the b4 base pins is 93 mm tall.
