Extras ▼

The EAF42 is a single diode variable μ pentode with a common cathode. Mullard describe this valve as: A single diode RF pentode for use in AC mains-operated equipment. The pentode section is suitable for automatic volume control.
This says British Made but has the distinctive Philips Dutch machinery produced glass foot with the groove.
See also EAF42 for another spigotless version.
The mesh screen obscures the pentode section.
The diode section sits above the pentode around the common cathode.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B8A base pins, is 53 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet, 3002 & 1040. Type EAF42 was first introduced in 1948. See also 1948 adverts.
