The W150 is a single diode variable μ pentode with a common cathode. The designation comes from M-OV, the Mullard code is EAF42.The construction is a single diode plus RF pentode. The pentode section is suitable for automatic volume control. In this exhibit the locating into the valve holder is by the pip on the glass only. There is no maker's name on the valve but the indent where the base button seals to the soft glass envelope is typical of Philips in the late 1940s.With strong back-light the anode can be seen as two pieces either side of the central cathode. The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter and, excluding the B8A base pins, is 53 mm tall.References: Data-sheet, 3002 & 1040. |
