The 6Y6G is a beam tetrode audio power valve. The design use was as a single ended audio output stage in receivers or audio equipment. The six watt output would be too great for most receiver applications.
It is possible that this valve acted as an audio modulator in a voice transmitter, or as part of a stabilised power supply for the master oscillator in a transmitter.
The classic envelope is 42 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 100 mm tall.
