The ACT9 is a directly heated triode transmitting valve. The Air Cooled Triode 9 was effective for RF transmitter and RF heating service into the low HF bands. The M-OV series of ACT air cooled triodes features the external copper anodes of the CAT series but with cooling fins rather than a water cooling jacket.
The picture shows the copper anode with and without the cooling fins. In use air would be forced over the anode fins.
See also ACT9.
The wide glass tube envelope is 61 mm in diameter and the overall length is 425 mm. The cooling fin assembly is 155 mm in diameter and 185 mm long.
References: Data-sheet & 1005. Type ACT9 was first introduced in 1959. See also 1959 adverts.
