The CV257 is a pulse operated UHF co-axial triode. This device could generate peak powers of several kilowatts at up to a few hundred MHz.
The diagram in the data-sheet does not match the exhibit and with the long exhaust tail this could be an experimental or prototype valve. Alternatively it could be incorrectly identified.
The wide glass tube envelope is 44 mm in diameter and, including the base, is 125 mm tall.
Reference: Data-sheet. Type CV257 was first introduced in 1947. See also 1947 adverts.
