This exhibit is a corona voltage stabiliser based on the commercial GEC. The high voltage nature of the valve is seen by the ceramic insulators. The outer cylinder is 7 mm diameter by 33 mm long and is connected to two base pins. The rest remain unconnected. The inner rod is guided down the centre of the tube by the insulators to ensure precise geometry and is connected to the top cap. To achieve a corona discharge a gas presence is required.
The thin glass tube envelope is 17 mm in diameter and, excluding the B7G base pins, is 65 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 3002. Type CV2459 was first introduced in 1958. See also 1958 adverts.
