The EL2 was still listed as a current design in the 1950s. This is somewhat surprising as the side contact base was not the most reliable contact system in practice. The operating parameters, except for the heater, are identical to the Mullard EL32, and both were designed for domestic radio and audio equipment.
The classic envelope is 32 mm in diameter and, including the Ct8 base pins is 90 mm tall.
