The CV54 is a half wave rectifier with the anode brought out to the top cap. The ratings suggest that this is a rectifier for a pulse transmitter.
The filament is coated wire and passes vertically through the anode cavity six times. The filament connects to the base. The anode has rounded ends and measures 6 x 32 x 32 mm and has side cooling flanges.
The maximum peak inverse voltage can be as high as 7,000 Volts but the working PIV is quoted as 6.5 kV. The peak anode current can be 400 mA. To limit the anode current into the maximum 1 μF reservoir capacitor a total series resistance of 2,000 Ohms must be in the feed circuit.
The classic envelope is 46 mm in diameter and, excluding the B4 base pins, is 122 mm tall.
