The CV587/NR68 (commercially the 6Q7G) is a double diode triode and was designed for receiver audio use.
The diodes would be for signal and AGC rectification and the triode would act as AGC amplifier or first audio amplifier.
This is an American made valve marked with the requirements of the UK Government procurement.
The construction follows the usual pattern of a screening box connected to the cathode housing the two rods that form the diode anodes. Above the central mica is the triode with the control grid taken to the top cap.
The classic envelope is 37 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 97 mm tall.
