Originally established in 1894. By the 1910's the company was making naval telephones (loudspeakers) and full installations of ship based telephone equipment.

In the early 1920s, the company marketed permanent magnets and the Graham Electrical Autohorn.

The company was divided into two limited companies at the end of 1926. Alfred Graham & Co. Ltd. operated the naval side of the business, and Graham Amplion Limited manufactured and sold of loudspeakers and other radio related products including re-branded Metrovick valves in 1926/27.
