The STC G55/1K is a gas filled voltage stabiliser designed to work at the low voltage of 55 Volts over a current range of 2 - 30 mA. The regulation is to within three Volts for this range of current. For a fixed current drain the voltage stability will be very good. The maximum striking voltage is 90.0 Volts.
The G120/1B has a similar performance but is an older design with a B4 base.

The thin glass tube envelope is 19 mm in diameter, and excluding the B7G base pins is 60 mm tall.
Reference: Data-sheet. Type G55/1K was first introduced in 1956. See also 1956 adverts.
