The CV189 is a gas filled protective spark gap. There are two electrodes with the lower electrode connected to the base pins and the upper electrode connected to the anode.
The electrodes sit either end of the ceramic cylinder.
The top electrode with distortion due to the glass.
The wide glass tube envelope is 30 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 69 mm tall.
