6CM5

Sensibly equivalent to:
CV5830 EL360

Extras ▼

The 6CM5 was designed for line output service in CRT based receivers - TV and Radar where it acts as a switch.
The valve is also rated for Class B audio amplification where the anode voltage can be 300 Volts. The anode dissipation is 10 Watts and the screen grid can dissipate 5 Watts. Jointly the maximum total dissipation is 13 Watts. The data-sheet gives operating details.
The control grid has a large U shaped heat radiating fin joining the two supports. The stitched anode is welded to the supports.
The near rectangular shape of the anode.
The overprint gives the EL360 and the CV5830 as equivalents. Both of these have a lower mutual conductance than the 6CM5.
Both wire grids are wound on copper support rods.
The wide glass tube envelope is 28 mm in diameter, and excluding the IO base pins is 95 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet. Type 6CM5 was first introduced in 1956. See also 1956 adverts.
