The 1B40 is an argon filled Radar gas switching tube (TR Cell) that requires a separate cavity. Operation is at 1.08 GHz.

The keep-alive electrode is in the centre of the visible cylinder.

The method of mounting between two cavities.
The thin glass tube envelope is 12 mm in diameter and, including the base pin, is 39 mm tall.
