The CV236 is a spark gap designed to short out the receiver input port of a radar set during the transmit pulse and thus protecting the delicate receiver.
The bulb is argon filled and the gap operates at S-Band at 3.3 GHz.
The reverse shows the gap. The TR switch would be located within waveguide.
