The EAF801 is a replacement for the EAF81 and the vari-μ pentode is designed for RF and IF amplification in superhet receivers.
The coating on the inner surface of the glass prevents seeing the inner structure. The outer screen is all that is visible.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter, and excluding the B9A base pins is 57 mm tall.
Reference: Data-sheet. Type EAF801 was first introduced in 1963. See also 1963 adverts.
