The 5814 is a special quality double triode with characteristics similar to the 12AU7 and is pin compatible. It is of rugged construction to be able to operate in areas of shock and vibration - i.e. aircraft etc.
The heater is centre tapped and with the two sections in series it will operate from a 12.6 Volt supply as found in vehicles.
The top mica is double layer and the control grid is wound on copper rods.
