The R-72 is an EHT rectifier with a PIV rating of 20 kV under optimum conditions.

The bell anode connects to and is supported by the top cap.

The filament looks to be thoriated tungsten.

Here the filament can be seen as a self supporting loop.

The wide glass tube envelope is 38 mm in diameter and, excluding the base pins, is 103 mm tall.
