The Ethotron is a cold cathode full wave rectifier for use as a battery eliminator from the AC mains via a suitable transformer.

The gas discharge has to be confined and so the lead wires are shielded with glass and ceramic tubes.

The Type designation and description are etched into the bulb.

The other side of the glass has script letters.

An enhanced image reveals the script letters as RAS or RAL.

The balloon envelope is 44 mm in diameter and, excluding the B4 base pins, is 99 mm tall.
