The UF42 is a high μ RF pentode designed for use as a wideband amplifier. The heater is of the 100 mA type for use with a series heater chain.
Electrically the UF42 is identical to the 6.3 Volt heater version the EF42 and has the same pin connections. Our other Mullard UF42 has a metal skirt.
Through the hole in the outer screen can be seen the strap that joins the two small plates that form the anode.
Also visible are the three wire grids. The suppressor grid is an open helix and the inner grids pass flat across the cathode.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter, and excluding the B8A base pins is 54 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet & 1040. Type UF42 was first introduced in 1947. See also 1947 adverts.
