This exhibit is a Ferranti R52 full wave rectifier.
Designed to supply equipment of up to 40 Watts total power, this rectifier was made by several manufacturers. This suggests a very popular type, and one that found use in military equipment during WWII. The maximum reservoir capacitor is specified as 32 μF and the minimum effective series resistance is 50 Ω.
The face of one anode. The working area is the middle tube.
The side view. The heater connections emerge at the top of the cathode and are linked together via the central vertical rod.
The classic envelope is 44 mm in diameter and, excluding the IO base pins, is 102 mm tall.
