The 5654W is the special quality version of the 6AK5 and is also known as the 6AK5W. It is an wideband RF amplifier pentode for VHF and above. The rugged construction is to allow the valve to operate in situations of vibration and knocks and the W suffix denotes this quality.
The box anode has a side flange and open ends. Within can be seen the wide spaced helical suppressor grid and within that the closer wound screen grid. At full size the image reveals the control grid very close to the cathode. The spacing of the control grid wires is smaller than the screen grid spacing.
The other side of the anode with flange on the left.
The thin glass tube envelope is 18 mm in diameter and, excluding the B7G base pins, is 36 mm tall.
