The HN309 is a triode pentode audio valve designed for car radio applications. The triode is a voltage amplifier and the pentode is the output valve.
The pentode is designed for a load of 6,000 Ω and a cathode resistor of 220 Ω.

The reverse also carries a copy of the Type designation. The grid axis of both sections is the same. The internal coating obscures the details but the pentode is this side.
The thin glass tube envelope is 21 mm in diameter, and excluding the B9A base pins is 48 mm tall.
References: {ref1040^} & ref3002^}. Type HN309 was first introduced in 1956. See also 1956 adverts.
