The PCL84 is a television triode and output pentode. This product shows how cheaper overseas production was ending UK manufacture.
The triode was employed for AGC, sync-separation and/or sync-amplification and noise suppression. The pentode was designed for video output in black and white television receivers.
The small triode section on the left is screened from the larger pentode.
The triode face-on. The anode is stitched together and the grid is wound on copper supports for good heat dissipation. The cathode is a flattened tube.
The thin glass tube envelope is 21 mm in diameter and excluding the B9A base pins it is 58 mm tall.
