The VT30 (later the CV CV1030) is an HF transmitting triode with flying leads. The maximum anode dissipation is 250 Watts and the maximum operating frequency is given as 20 MHz.
Our exhibit is complete with the operating cradle. The cradle measures 310 x 158 mm. Installing the complete assembly was easier in the field.
The diameter of the end tube is 56 mm. The fixings are wrapped in asbestos tape for heat insulation.
The grid is a helical wire but at each end is a mesh - like the construction used by Round on early valves.
A closer view of the main electrodes. The envelope has a large central spherical section o keep the glass cooler. Without this bulb the glass becomes lossy at RF.
The anode end. The crate assembly has a separate stores number of 10A/8724.
The filament and grid connections.
A view of the mesh at the ends of the grid.
The balloon envelope is 113 mm in diameter and, excluding the base wires, is 280 mm tall.
