The 6J6 is a double triode designed for use as a mixer/oscillator at UHF - up to 600 MHz. The 6J6WA was developed for industrial and military applications. The 6J6WA is a special quality version with double micas for extra vibration resistance.
This exhibit is unmarked but the clear glass enables good images of the inside to be obtained.
The anodes are open rectangular sections with the narrow end close to the grid. The grids are wound on copper supports and are mounted either side of the central cathode. The heater wires are coiled before insulation is applied.
Looking into the open end of one anode. The grid wires extend outside the anode area to allow for the central section the be at the correct distance. Note also that the grid wires are single sided the cut ends of the other half of the winding can be seen on the supports. The heater passes through the rectangular cathode four times to give even heating across the cathode width.
The thin glass tube envelope is 18 mm diameter and 50 mm high excluding the B7G base pins.
