The DF96 is a miniature amplifier pentode with very low filament consumption. This Mullard made valve design dates to 1953 and has half of the filament current of its predecessor the DF92. It was specified for use as an IF amplifier in portable radio equipment.
The anode is left bright in this low power valve. The filament tension spring is the coil above the top mica.
At the top can be seen the very open pitch of the suppressor grid.
The thin glass tube envelope is 18 mm in diameter and, excluding the B7G base pins, is 49 mm tall.
