The CV4038 is a special quality triode for series pass service in stabilised power supplies. The flying leads are for directly soldering into the circuit. The maximum anode dissipation is 15 Watts and the maximum cathode current is 120 mA.
On a B9A base the valve is the CV4079 and commercially the A2293.
The anode with central flanges for maximum surface area. The control grid supports are copper.
The top mica is doubled to provide resistance to the effects of vibration and shock as would be found in aircraft and similar systems. The control grid is fitted with extra heat sinking at the top.
The folded anode has a central space and four wings at right angles to one another.
The thin glass tube envelope is 21 mm in diameter and, excluding the base wires, is 62 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet. Type CV4038 was first introduced in 1956. See also 1956 adverts.
