The PCF801 is a television mixer oscillator. Triode pentode combinations worked better at high frequencies than hexode mixers.
Mullard describe the PCF801 as: a triode frame-grid variable-μ pentode.
The thin glass tube envelope is 20 mm in diameter, and excluding the B9A base pins, is 41 mm tall.
