The 305 is a current stabilising Barretter that stabilises a 300 mA heater chain with a voltage drop of between 40 and 90 Volts.
The coiled wire will be made of iron and it has a positive temperature coefficient and thus opposes a rise in current drawn.
There are four coiled strands of wire all connected in series.
The iron wire is clamped to the connection.
The balloon envelope is 45 mm in diameter, and including the ES base is 91 mm tall.
Reference: 1040. Type 305 was first introduced in 1952. See also 1952 adverts.
