Audion

Extras ▼

This exhibit is a spherical Audion fitted with a Tantalum filament. The construction matches that of the Audion with the Hudson filament.
The box and the covering on the leads looks very new and it is possible that this is a copy and not an original. Our Audion with the Hudson filament is genuine.
The construction is double sided with the grid and anode connected at the top and the filament connected to the candelabra base.
The filament end with the box in the background.
A closer view.
Thanks to Xabier Iturbe for sending the images.
The balloon envelope is 52 mm in diameter, and including the candelabra base is 85 mm tall.
Reference: 1047. Type Audion was first introduced in 1911. See also 1911 adverts.
