The 12AV7 double triode was designed for VHF television receivers. The design use was as an oscillator and mixer or as an RF amplifier - probably in a cascode circuit in the same way as the European PCC84.
The thin glass tube envelope is 21 mm in diameter, and excluding the B9A base pins is 49 mm tall.
References: Data-sheet. Type 12AV7 was first introduced in 1949. See also 1949 adverts.
