The CV43 is a spark gap switch for radar pulse transmitters (NB not a diode). The copper electrodes are discs that extend beyond the diameter of the glass tube and would be installed within the waveguide leading to the receiver. The discharge is primed by the probe and by ionising the gap during the transmit pulse the receiver is protected.
The wide glass tube envelope is 30 mm in diameter and, excluding the base pins, is 120 mm tall. With covers the diameter is 45 mm and the length is 134 mm.
