The CV147 is an Infra Red image converter cell for night vision applications and several variants of the basic cell were made during the early 1940's for war service.
These devices were developed by EMI.

The photosensitive cathode window. The conductive paint can be seen to be peeling off.
The fluorescent screen connection ring on the outside and the screen is located close to the photocathode. The screen is formed on a wire mesh.
The end window envelope is 49 mm in diameter, and is 43 mm tall.
